October hunting events 2019 calendar

October hunting events are packing the calendar of events for October 2019 to the rim. Besides numerous season openers, there is a plethora of other events that are not necessarily October hunting events but still somehow related to hunting and the environment.

This calendar summary will list only direct October hunting events while related happenings are the subject of an addendum to this post. They cover tours of wildlife areas, seminars for people interested to participate actively in educating youngsters and outdoor lovers, public meetings of regulatory agencies, and educational events.

October hunting events

As always, the October hunting events are organized according to calendar dates whenever possible. You will find multiple opening dates for a specific game under one listing to keep things simple.

Bear Season

The general bear season in select deer zones A, B, C, D, X8, X9A, X9B, X10, and X12 will run concurrently with the general deer season in the above zones. Check bear hunting regulations, season updates and black bear information at www.wildlife.ca.gov/.

12 — General Bear Season in the remaining deer hunting X zones opens October 12, 2019, and stays open until December 29, 2019, or until 1,700 bear have been taken.

Do not forget to have your bear tag validated. You also need to extract one tooth from the skull of the bear. For timely information visit www.wildlife.ca.gov/.

Elk on SHARE property
SHARE access permit applications

It is also a good idea to apply for SHARE access permits for October hunting events in 2019. The SHARE access program offers boar, deer, bear, turkey, dove and quail hunts.

SHARE hunts are very popular because they offer public access to private properties for hunting, fishing, and recreation. They also have a good hunter success rate. It is a very good idea to apply early for any SHARE hunt of interest to you.

An application fee of $ 11.88 per hunt applies. The fee is non-refundable. For details on the hunts and the schedule of specific hunts have a look at  www.wildlife.ca.gov/hunting/
