Junior License Holders can now apply for a fall apprentice deer hunt at the Chimineas Unit of the Carrizo Plains Ecological Reserve.

The Carrizo Plains Ecological Reserve is a challenging environment for any big game hunting. When I was there years ago for a wild pig hunt, we did not see any feral pigs but impressive elk herds and, of course, plenty of snakes.

CDFW in cooperation with the California Deer Association is no offering Junior License holders to enter into a drawing for s junior license apprentice deer hunt at the Chimineas Unit of the Carrizo Plains Ecological Reserve.

This twoday buck hunt will take place on September 16 and September 17 on the 30,000-acre reserve. The hunt is for Junior License holder only and limited to the Chimineas Unit of the Carrizo Plains Ecological Reserve.
